These Fudgey Chocolate Brownies are so quick and easy to make and really, really good!
They have the right mix of cakey, and gooey fudgeyness to hit the spot.
I have included ½ cup of applesauce, which acts as an oil replacer in the recipe.
You can use store bought apple sauce, or cook up a few granny smith or Bramley apples and puree them yourself, if you would prefer.
It is possible to use One cup of applesauce and no oil at all, if you want to avoid as much fat as possible, but I feel a half / half mix gives the best result for my palate!
Add any combination of tasty morsels,if you don’t like walnuts!

Fudgey Chocolate Walnut Brownies
Ingredients
2 cups Plain flour
2 cups caster sugar
1 cup cocoa powder
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 cup water
1/2 cup vegetable oil
½ cup applesauce
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup Vegan chocolate chunks/chips
1 cup Walnuts
Method:
-Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
-In a large bowl, stir together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt.
-Pour in water, vegetable oil and vanilla; mix until well blended.
-Spread evenly in a 9×13 inch baking pan.
-Bake for approx 45 minutes in the preheated oven, until the top is no longer shiny.
You can tell they are ready, when you put a skewer an inch in from the side and it comes out clean, but when you put the skewer in the middle, it should still come out a bit wet, but that is fine..that will give us the nice fudgey texture when cooled.
If you’re not sure ,leave it a few mins longer, but don’t over cook it.
If you over-cook it ,it will be more cakey and less fudgey!
-Let cool for at least 10 minutes before cutting into squares.
It looks nice dusted with icing sugar before being cut too… but this is one REALLY YUMMY brownie recipe!

Can I omit the Apple sauce as I have someone with an Apple allergy?
